Olena Lazebna is the Head of the Department of Theory, Practice, and Translation of the German language at the National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.’ She is an Associate Professor with a Ph.D. in Philological Sciences. Olena acts as the Guarantor for the educational program at the first (Bachelor’s) level of higher education, specifically overseeing the ‘Germanic Languages and Literature (including translation)’ program specializing in the German language. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Linguistics at NTUU ‘KPI’ specializing in Translation and holding qualifications as a translator and teacher of German and English. In November 2011, she embarked on the NTUU ‘KPI’ postgraduate program. In December 2014, Olena successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Adverbs of Evaluation in Contemporary German Language in Germany and Austria’ in the specialty of Germanic Languages (035 Philology, specialty code 10.02.04) supervised by Professor of Philology L. Prokopova. O. Lazebna’s scientific advances encompass more than 60 scientific papers, published in renowned scientific journals and listed in international scientometric databases such as the Web of Science. She has authored a monograph, seven manuals and one textbook. Olena has also presented numerous reports (with abstracts) at international conferences, symposia, and congresses held in Ukraine and Germany.

Oksana Turysheva is an Associate Professor at the Department of Theory, Practice, and Translation of the German Language in the Faculty of Linguistics at the National Technical University of Ukraine, ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.’ She holds a Ph.D. in Philological Sciences and currently serves as the Guarantor of the educational program for the second (Master’s) level of higher education in ‘Germanic Languages and Literature (including translation)’, with a specialization in German. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Linguistics of the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”. In 2009, she embarked on a postgraduate program and completed her studies ahead of schedule. In February 2012, she successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Violation of the Frame Structure in Modern German: Functional Aspect, Normative Status.’ in the specialty of Germanic languages (specialty code 10.02.04), supervised by Professor of Philology Professor L.I. Prokopova.
Oksana Turysheva has made substantial theoretical contributions to the scientific literature, demonstrating the potential of a modern scientist across a wide range of topics. In recognition of her active and prolific scientific work, Oksana Turysheva was awarded the Kyiv Mayor’s Prize for Special Achievements of Youth in 2017. This prestigious honor was bestowed upon her in the ‘Scientific Achievements’ category, highlighting her contributions to the development of the capital of Ukraine, the Hero City of Kyiv. She has played a noteworthy role in various scientific and professional activities, including leading the socio-humanitarian student circle ‘Grammatik der deutschen Gegenwartssprache,’ being a member of the Ukrainian Association of Ukrainian Germanists and serving as a jury member for the final stage of the All-Ukrainian competition for the defense of research papers by students of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Valentyna Marchenko is an Associate Professor at the Department of Theory, Practice, and Translation of the English language at the National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ with a Ph.D. in Philological Sciences. In 2012, she embarked on the postgraduate program at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, specializing in Philology (035). In December 2016 she successfully defended her thesis for Ph.D. degree in Philology at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The thesis topic was ‘Communicative and cognitive features of intonation functioning in English-language speech-and-music works: An experimental phonetic study’ supervised by Professor of Philology A.A. Kalyta. Theoretical advances in V. Marchenko’s scientific works encompass the classification of linguophonetic features in speech and music works, a communicative model for the generation, actualization, and perception of speech and music works along with their various realizations.

Mykola Kutsenko is an Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages in the Yevhenii Berezniak Military Diplomatic Academy with Ph.D. in Philology. In 2014, he embarked on the postgraduate program at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, in the specialty of Philology (035). In May 2019, Mykola Kutsenko successfully defended his thesis for Ph.D. at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The thesis topic was ‘Prosodic organization of English utterances of sympathy’ supervised by Professor of Philology L.I. Taranenko. The theoretical advances of M.A. Kutsenko’s scientific works encompass the classification of linguistic features in the oral expression of condolence, a comprehensive framework illustrating the interaction of communicative factors that influence the specifics of condolence expression, as well as variant and invariant prosodic models of condolence expressions utilized in both formal and informal communication.
The knowledge and skills I acquired during my postgraduate studies in Philology at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute have provided a solid foundation for my scientific career and the successful presentation of my research results to the scientific community, both in Ukraine and abroad. Participating in international conferences at renowned European universities such as the National University of Distance Learning (Madrid, Spain), the Institute of the Lithuanian Language (Vilnius, Lithuania), and the Institute of the Latvian Language of the University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia) have been valuable in my translation and teaching activities. The practical skills obtained through the study of disciplines like translation theory and practice, the energy approach to studying communication processes, current trends in higher education, etc., have proven valuable in translation and teaching activities. Specifically, these skills have been beneficial during official visits by international delegations and in the design and implementation of specialized language training courses within the educational system
Olha Sokyrska is a senior lecturer at theDepartment. In 2011 she embarked on the NTUU ‘KPI’ postgraduate program. In May 2019 Olha Sokyrska successfully defended her thesis for Ph.D. at Kherson State University. The thesis topic was ‘Sociolinguistic Features of Refusal Utterances’ Prosodic Actualization (An Experimental Phonetic Study of English Speech)’ supervised by Professor of Philology L.I. Taranenko. Sokyrska’s scientific works have contributed to theoretical advances in understanding the mechanisms involved in encoding and decoding refusal in dialogic speech. Her research includes the classification of signs indicating different tactics for expressing refusal, as well as the identification of key linguistic indicators associated with various types of refusal expressions. Furthermore, her work involves the analysis and systematization of the functional, structural, and sociolinguistic features that shape the specific prosodic design of refusals.
While pursuing my postgraduate studies at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, specializing in 035 Philology, I gained extensive knowledge in English phonetics. This profound understanding not only facilitated successful presentations of my research findings at international conferences abroad and in Ukraine. Maryna Kolisnyk is an Associate Professor at the Department of English for Humanities №3 at the National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ with Ph.D. in Philology. In 2009 she graduated from the Faculty of Linguistics of the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”. In 2011, she embarked on the NTUU ‘KPI’ postgraduate program in the specialty of Philology (035). On December 4, 2015, she successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Characteristics of North-Eastern Dialect of England Functioning within the Period of 1960-2010’ at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, supervised by Professor of Philology A.A. Kalyta. M. P. Kolisnyk’s scientific works have made significant theoretical advances. They encompass the clarification of the definition of “dialect” and the classification of the leading linguistic features of English dialects. Furthermore, Kolisnyk has developed a model explaining the genesis of the northeastern dialect of England. Additionally, they have proposed a model illustrating the mechanism of interaction among all levels of language in the historical process of forming the speech of northeastern English.
The completion of my postgraduate studies in the specialty of 035 Philology at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute provided a strong foundation for the development of my scientific career. “Scientific internship at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Kingdom of Spain) within the framework of the ERASMUS+ credit mobility program (internship period from 1.09.2018 to 03.02.2019) gave me the opportunity to expand my scientific horizons thanks to the seminars and conferences I attended, to deepen the study of the dissertation topic due to the completed project and learn a new language in Spanish language courses provided by the university” .

“Three intense months of fruitful work on the dissertation with the professor of the Faculty of English and German Hidalgo Encarcion Tenorio , the formation of a corpus of speeches, online teaching for students and graduation from the 1st year of postgraduate studies at KPI, sports, spontaneous trips and many adventures and impressions — I received all this and was able to combine it thanks to participation in the Erasmus+ international grant program, which every year opens up international opportunities for studying abroad for thousands of students and postgraduates.”
The University of Granada (Universidad de Granada) was founded in 1531 and is located in a unique area – a geographical location close to the Sierra Nevada, an excellent ski resort, and the Mediterranean coast, with many tourist attractions, including Motril, Almunecar and Salobreña. In the city Granada is home to four university campuses, as well as the “Campus Centro”, which combines all the centers located in the historic part of the city. This city is love at first sight. Havrylenko Valeriia Mykolaiivna
Postgraduate student of the 4th year of studies at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. From September 13 to December 20, 2021, she completed an internship at the University of Lorraine, Nancy (France).
“Three months in France was an absolutely incredible experience from both a research and cultural point of view. The Erasmus+ program gave me the opportunity not only to familiarize myself with new modern scientific approaches and research algorithms related to the topic of my dissertation, but also to meet new people, to establish scientific and personal connections, as well as to get to know the culture and language of a new country, which for me as a person in love with languages became a real gift of fate.
My scientific supervisor in France was Professor Alan Polger, head of the lexicological direction of the laboratory’s research and a recognized scientist in the field of machine processing of natural languages and the organization of digital lexicographic sources. He helped me navigate the whirlwind of new things, guided my scientific research, and is not only a brilliant scientist, but also a wonderful person.
The internship took place on the basis of the linguistic laboratory ATILF, which is a research institution embedded in the infrastructure of the humanities campus of the University of Lorraine. Training took place in the form of individual consultations with scientific director Alan Polger. At the same time, I registered for 2 academic courses – one on the study of the French language, and the other on the topic of research and internship (Relational structure of the lexicon). These courses were not reflected in the Learning Agreement and did not receive ECTS study credits for them, but they contributed to the fulfillment of the educational goals of the internship. Meetings with the scientific supervisor took place as new theoretical and practical material was mastered. Postgraduate students had libraries and online platforms, study halls, scientific laboratories and catering facilities at their disposal.”
Isniuk Olga Yuriivna
Postgraduate student of the 2nd year of studies at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. From April 1 to July 31, 2022, she completed an internship at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena.
“Participation in the ERASMUS+ credit mobility program at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Federal Republic of Germany, from April 1 to July 31, 2022, allowed me to integrate into the international educational and scientific community, adopt the European experience of conducting modern research in the field of philology and, of course, immerse yourself in an interesting culture. Thanks to this experience, which I received while studying at the third level of higher education, I was able to expand the range of scientific interests, adopt the experience of leading scientists and clearly understand which directions are promising for young philological scientists.”
